What a Wedding Planner Does (And Why It Actually Matters)

Many couples are asking this question: "Why would I need a wedding planner?" A lot of people underestimate how time-consuming it is to plan a wedding. Many people think they can just do it easily on top of everything else they have going on. Let me tell you, it's like another full-time job (actually it is since I and many others have that job). You're having to communicate with vendors, go on walk-throughs and tastings, find perfect fabrics and decor, create timelines, budgets,

checklists, seating charts, design invites, and endless other tasks that you wouldn't even think about. If that doesn't sound like another job to you, then I don't know what does. A wedding planner makes it their job instead of yours and also has experience doing that job. Wouldn't you want to hire us?

What Does a Wedding Planner Actually Do?

Depending on the type of wedding planner you hire depends on what they can do for you. We have three packages you can choose from: full-service planning, partial planning, or day-of coordination. Right now I'm going to be talking about full-service planning. For us, full-service planning means what you think it does, we do all of the wedding planning for you. We find, negotiate, and coordinate with all vendors, go on all walk-throughs and tastings, keep you on track with a checklist of things you need to get ready and do before the wedding, help with budget tracking and staying on budget, create wedding website, assist in creating the style, theme, and design of the wedding, create timeline, seating chart, and menu, handle hotel room blocking and transportation, give you packing lists and other tips for the wedding day, and coordinate the rehearsal. If that seems like a lot we haven't even gotten to the actual wedding day! On that actual day we coordinate the entire wedding, make sure the timeline is adhered to, manage any and all problems that may come up, assist in decorating and tearing down the venue, and above all makes sure the bride, groom, and guests all have a wonderful, stress-free day. Have I convinced you that you need a wedding planner yet?

What Happens Behind the Scenes?

A lot of what we do happens behind the scenes, so most people don't even see all that goes into making a successful wedding happen. Who makes sure all the

vendors know when they need to be at the venue and arrive on time? Who knows where the wedding rings are? Who knows when to send out the invites or when the transportation should be booked? Who knows that Aunt Dory has a peanut allergy? I think by now you know the answer to those questions. All these things we, as wedding planners, have extensive knowledge about and can handle that way you're not stress-googling the answers only to find out you should've booked photography 3 months ago.

What Happens When Something Goes Wrong

Picture this: it's the morning of your wedding day. You wake up so incredibly happy to marry the person of your dreams. Everything is planned out and you're ready to just enjoy your day. Then, you get a phone call. The caterer's power went out last night and all their food went bad and they have no way to make all the food you need by tonight. You're freaking out, you don't know what to do, and biggest mistake: you didn't hire a wedding planner. So you and your mom are stuck all morning calling restaurants, catering places, even grocery stores seeing how you can possibly get enough food for everyone tonight. Does this sound like a fun, stress-free day to you? Now picture if you had hired a wedding planner. The wedding planner gets that call in the morning not you. They immediately call their trusted contact at another catering place that they've used before. That contact tells them that they can provide the food they need just not the dessert. So the planner calming calls Wegmans and finds out Wegmans can make the cakes and the other desserts you wanted and they go pick it up on their way in. Now the planner calls you, tells you what has happened, but since they already have another plan in place you don't have to freak out. You can now calmly enjoy the rest of your day knowing that the wedding planner is handling everything. Which scenario sounds better to you?

Have I Convinced You Yet?

If I haven't convinced you of a need for a wedding planner, then let me tell you now: you need a wedding planner. If you want a stress-free engagement and wedding day, you need a full-service planner. They are more experienced at
